SNL has the right solution for railroad applications. The rapid install of soil nails eliminates any need to shut down tracks for more than a few hours at a time. Trains are able to run their tracks on schedule and the repair is often half the cost of traditional repair such as caissons, piling and retaining walls. SNL can widen embankments and ensure soil stability for constant changing weights, like that of a train.
Rail Road Stabilization
THE SOIL NAIL LAUNCHER CAN BE FASTER AND LESS EXPENSIVE
The Canadian Pacific Railroad had a pair of failing piling walls on either side of a high embankment. The single track was too busy to shut down for more than a few hours at a time,
thus eliminating several traditional options for repair such as caissons, piling and retaining walls.
One viable option that would minimize interference was to widen the embankment on one side and then move the track to the center. Cost for that was estimated at $400,000 and
it would take a significant amount of time to complete. CP officials Charlie Duffy and Eddie Choi invited SNL to propose on this site. We were able to install Launched Soil Nails (TM)
and a shotcrete facing in 4 days and without interference with train schedules. Cost was a fraction of what CP had budgeted. SNL provided a performance warranty with this repair.
Where time and cost are factors, SNL's tools and technologies often beat the competition.
